Yves Klein

Yves Klein, born the 28th of April 1928 in Nice, France, and dead the 6th of June 1962, is a french plastic artist, painter and performer.

Despite a quite short artistic career (1954-1962), Klein is considered as one of the most important protagonists of the post-war artistic avant-garde. He is especially famous for his blue (IKB, for International Klein Blue).

In 1960, Klein took part in the creation of the New Realism with Pierre Restany and signed its first manifesto, with Arman, François Dufrêne, Raymond Hains, Martial Raysse, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely and Jacques Villeglé.

Yves Klein died of an heart attack the 6th of June 1962; a few months before his son's birth.
