Raymond Georges Yves Tanguy, born on January 5, 1900, in Paris, and deceased on January 15, 1955, in Woodbury, Connecticut, is a french surrealist drawer and painter, naturalized american.
Yves Tanguy joint the Surrealist group in 1925. His mineral landscapes, his linear horizons, his supple cartilages, his fascinating being-objects, his oniric atmospheres where the subconscious is sovereign are really appreciated by poets.
In 1938, at the "Salon des Surindépendants", Tanguy discovered the works of the american artist Kay Sage. He joined her in the United States the following year, and they married in 1940.
In 1955, Yves Tanguy died suddently from a cerebral haemorrhage.
